Structured AI assistance for prescription workflows, with a physician reviewing every suggestion.
The problem
Clinical workflows need structured assistance that doctors can inspect before using.
My contribution
Designed and built the assistant end to end, including voice dictation into prescription fields, medication alternatives, and specialty-based drug reference.
Engineering decisions
- Put model integration behind a port/adapter interface and validate structured output.
- Require accept/edit/reject review and logging; excluded diagnosis suggestions from the assistant.
- Add independent validation, per-user rate limiting, cost controls, and graceful degradation when AI is not configured.
Results & evidence
- Delivered a clinical AI assistant with mandatory physician review.
- Fixed model reasoning leaking into structured fields through prompt/configuration changes and an independent validation layer.
